Writing Papers of Literary Analysis

Note that our primary goal is to produce an interpretation based on close reading. We already have tips for close reading in Spanish, but there is also much available in English. Here are some additional guides. They make, basically, the same points, so everyone can read the one they most resonate with. The one I most strongly recommend for us, now, is from the UNC-Chapel Hill Writing Center. It starts out by discussing [Writing About] Fiction / Demystifying the Process.

Here are some tips on how to do a close reading of a passage (this, actually, is something we should have already done as more homework, and will do as more formal homework in our next unit). Close readings of individual passages are what will lead you to a strong interpretation of the text as a whole.
